James Marion Mills

1955 - 2021

Chesterland, OH

James Marion Mills, beloved brother and uncle, passed away on Thursday, March 4.  He was 65 years of age.

A math and science ‘whiz,’ Jim was a Strnad Fellow at University School, an engineering major at Dartmouth College, and a valued 30-year employee of the Micro Center store in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

Jim also served four years in the United States Army.

More importantly, he was uniformly recognized as an extraordinarily thoughtful and caring individual.  While those attributes were reflected in his dealings with everyone he met, his nieces and nephews especially were the beneficiaries of his gentle and thoughtful ways.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Osborne and Margaret Swan Mills, and by a niece.  He is survived by his siblings, Osborne Mills, Jr. (Loren E. Bendall) of Bentleyville, Ohio, Margaret Mills Plumpton (John M. Plumpton) of Chardon Township, Ohio, and William M. Mills (Laurie K. Mills) also of Bentleyville, Ohio; by ten nieces and nephews; and by seven great-nieces and nephews.

A private interment service was held on March 10.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Jim’s memory may be made to Laurel School (Katherine S. B. Mills Fund), One Lyman Circle, Shaker Heights, OH 44122.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I worked with him at MicroCenter for many years. His kindness and thoughtfulness were outstanding characteristics. He shared information very freely, especially about a common interest we both cared photography and editing. Because of the pandemic, I had not seen him for many months. He was a fine human being and I will miss his presence and friendship..
My deepest sympathy goes out to his family, friends, and associates.
