Obituary

James Lanier Knott, Ph.D, Industrial and Organizational Psychologist, passed away on November 24, 2021. Jim was born in Birmingham, Alabama to J. Caldwell and Evelyn Blount Knott. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, where he also played trombone in the Michigan State University Marching Band. He went on to earn a masters degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and finally, his Ph.D in industrial psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Jim lived and worked for many years in Chicago where he served in management for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Upon leaving that organization in 1977, Jim was cited for his services positively impacting the people of Greater Chicago and the water resources of the area. Jim then moved to Ohio, first settling in Stow, before moving to Hudson. He built a practice in industrial and organizational psychology, providing management consulting to the U.S. Postal Service and well as other public sector and private sector clients across the United States.

Jim was an enthusiast of golf, hunting and travel.

Jim is survived by his son, Jay Knott, and daughter-in-law, Tine Knott, as well as a niece, cousins and other extended family.
