Craig Strasshofer

February 21, 1953 — January 11, 2021

Craig was the devoted and loving son of Rae Strasshofer (Deceased 2019) and Roland Strasshofer (Deceased 1998) and beloved brother to Lesley Cassaniti, Heidi Cohen, and Carol Masso. Craig is also survived by nieces Allyssa Cohen, Julia Cohen and nephews Chris Cassaniti, Adam Cohen, Nick Masso and Tim Masso.

Craig grew up in Shaker Heights. Attended Shaker Heights High School, graduated from Baldwin Wallace College, and obtained his Master of Arts in Creative Writing at Cleveland State University.

Craig was a creative soul who deeply touched those who loved him. A talented and accomplished musician, song writer, poet, playwright, and children’s author. He spent twenty years working in the educational publishing field. His younger years were spent composing, recording and performing music; growing into a playwright of note with his plays produced in Cleveland, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In the 1990’s Craig especially enjoyed working on many productions with the creative and vibrant team at the Cleveland Public Theater. He was also the owner of his own publishing company, Creative Text Services.

Some of Craig’s happiest days were spent living and working on the Island of St. Croix, Virgin Islands where he felt a deep connection to the beauty and innocence of its land and the realness of the people. We ask that any donations in his memory be made to the Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park. https://friendsvinp.org
