Trygve Cooley

Trygve (Trig) Cooley died October 26, 2025. Born November 5, 1930, she was the daughter of Leif and Sarah Withrow Norstrand, grew up in Scarsdale NY, and spent summers in Old Black Point CT. She graduated from Chatham Hall and attended Smith College and Katherine Gibbs in NYC. 

She married Samuel Porter Cooley of West Hartford CT in 1952. Living in West Hartford she worked at Renbrook School, Hartford College for Women, The Institute of Living, and served on the Hartford Stage Company board and was a member of the Garden Club of Hartford. They spent many years in a home on Nantucket and winters in Naples FL in Pelican Bay. In 2013 they moved to Moorings Park in Naples. In her final years following Sam’s death in 2023, Trig lived at Judson Park in Cleveland to be close to family. 

Trig is survived by her sister Kristi Coons of West Palm Beach FL, her children Charles (Grosvie) Cooley of Cleveland, Pam (David) O’Halloran of Cleveland, John (Maggie) Cooley of Bronxville NY, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Peter Cooley (Allene Adams).
