On the afternoon of March 5, 2023, Thomas Owen LaFramboise of Livonia, Michigan died peacefully at the age of 89, surrounded by family.

Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan to Louis Ulysses LaFramboise and Mary Edna LaFramboise (née Murphy).

He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Detroit after a short stint serving in the U.S. Army. He had a long career in the Glass Division at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1998. He married in 1966 and raised his four children in Livonia. Tom was passionate about fitness, including running, biking and swimming, transitioning to hiking and mall-walking later in life. He was an avid reader, particularly of biographies and books describing history. He was a long-suffering but engaged Detroit Lions fan and also enjoyed watching college football, particularly the Michigan Wolverines. A lifelong metro Detroiter, Tom always kept in touch with an extended network of friends from grade school, high school, and college. Family, both immediate and extended, was of great importance to him.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son Michael Joseph, and his sister Susan Anne (John) Mitchell. He is survived by his children Thomas (Sheryl Lee) of Shaker Heights, OH, Michele of Livonia, Michigan, Julie (Robert Lingscheit) of Santa Clara, CA, and Mary Bourdrez (Joshua) of Shaker Heights, OH; grandchildren Michael, Owen, Elise, Olivia, Grace, Jack, Luke, and Adam; and former wife Sheila. He is also survived by multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

As per Tom’s request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a private family remembrance at a later date.
