Thomas Kahn

March 29, 1933 — April 4, 2013

Thomas F. Kahn age 80 of Shaker Heights, Ohio passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. His loving parents, Isadore and Marjorie Kahn, preceded him in death.

Tom graduated from Park Tudor School and received a B.S. degree in History from Butler University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Tom proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Antietum. Tom moved to Cleveland, Ohio and worked for the Wolf Envelope Company, eventually becoming a partner. He was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, traveler, avid reader and active participant in life. He was married to Martha Butterworth Kahn and had three sons, Tom Jr., Mark and Stephen.

He was a loving husband to the late Ann L. Kahn, whom he married in 1980. They enjoyed entertaining, traveling, and staying active. They enjoyed annual trips to France in the fall and Switzerland in the winter. They were contributors to many Cleveland area cultural, educational, and arts organizations. Tom and Ann were members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Cleveland Art Museum, the University Hospitals, and the Cleveland Symphony.

Loving husband of the late Ann L. Kahn; father of Thomas F. Kahn, Jr. (Anne) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Mark Kahn of Indianapolis, Indiana, Stephen R. Kahn (Robin) of Atlanta, Georgia; stepfather of Charles V. Loucks (Patricia) of Tiburon, California and David B. Loucks (Anne) of Winnetka, Illinois; grandfather of Kevin, Brian, Carson, Catherine, Christopher, Carter, Andrew, Madelyn, and Lily; step-grandfather of Olivia, John, Chaz, Christopher, Spencer and Alexandra; former husband of Martha Kahn of Indianapolis, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that those who wish make contributions, in memory of Thomas F. Kahn, to the Head and Neck Research and Educational Fund 300-545-60 at The Cleveland Clinic, PO Box 931517, Cleveland, Ohio 44193.
Tom's family would like to extend their gratitude to the physicians and caregivers at The Cleveland Clinic who provided exceptional care and friendship.

A tribute to Tom's life will be held in St. Martin's Chapel of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Blvd. in Cleveland Heights on Saturday, May 18th at 2 PM.
