Theodore R. Wilson

Theodore (Ted) R. Wilson, age 81, long-time resident of Cleveland Heights, OH, passed away June 8, 2024. Ted was born and raised in Ashtabula, OH, the son of Theodore and Tynne (Tastula) Wilson. He is survived by his sister, Phyllis DeCroce of Naples, FL; niece Tracy DeCroce of Delaware, OH; and nephews Doug DeCroce of Naples, FL; Jon Thoburn of Jupiter, FL; and Bradford Thoburn of Jacksonville, FL. He is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Thoburn of Jupiter, FL; and nephew Steve DeCroce of Fort Myers, FL. 

Ted was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and the University of Missouri. He spent his career in social work at University Hospitals. In his personal life, Ted advocated for AIDS/HIV causes, LGBTQ rights and many other social justice issues. Ted built a community with a wide circle of friends of many stripes. He was a great reader, a fervent fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and a proud Clevelander who enjoyed the city’s arts, libraries and more. 

Services will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 3pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Boulevard, Cleveland Heights. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service. Donations can be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or the McGregor Foundation.
