Shirley Hummel

Shirley Irene Hummel nee Moore, beloved wife of the late Paul G. Hummel, Jr.  Loving mother of Beverly F. Miller and David Hummel (Sonja).  Dear grandmother of Evelyn Miller (Andy Meuwissen).

Shirley was born in Altoona, PA.  She had lived in Shaker Heights since high school.  She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and John Carroll University where she earned her Masters.  Shirley taught remedial reading in the Warrensville Heights School System for the duration of her career, mainly at John Dewey Elementary School.  She was honored with the Jennings Scholar Award for excellence in teaching.

The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to Heights Christian Church, (where she was a long-term member over 50 years), 17300 Van Aken Blvd., Shaker Hts., OH 44122 and where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 10 at 10:30 AM. Interment, Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273.
