Robert Lomas

July 7, 1948 — May 3, 2019

Robert Kenneth Lomas, of Jupiter, Florida and Chagrin Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 3 rd , 2019.

Bob grew up in Westport, Connecticut as the oldest of a family of four brothers. He graduated from Staples High School before heading to Denver where he fell in love with the west. After graduating from DU with a degree in Real Estate management, he made his way to Telluride, CO, where he became an accomplished skier and decided to purchase a property in the San Juan mountains, Mystic Valley Ranch.

He was working in Denver when he met and married the love of his life, Hope Shiverick.

Throughout his career, Bob was an entrepreneur in many ventures involving oil and gas exploration and real estate. His passions included fine wines and cooking. He could often be found behind the grill, hosting a feast for friends and family or in his wine cellar, studying the terroir of Burgundy. He and Hope took many trips abroad to places throughout Europe, including Rosslyn Chapel, where he would surprise people with his love for architectural and art historical knowledge.

He loved fly fishing, and often brought along his rod when traveling for work, just in case he could make a trip to the river. He loved to talk about the fish he caught and would take his family and friends to the river in hopes they could experience the same joy he felt with a fish in hand. He was also an accomplished dowser, and throughout his life was a student of mysticism.

His family and friends will sorely miss this kind, loving, humorous and generous bear of a man, who was always there to lend an ear or give an opinion if asked. Bob was a terrific husband, father, brother, and friend who truly knew the importance of family and friends in his life.

Bob was the beloved husband of Hope (nee Shiverick) of Jupiter FL and Chagrin Falls, OH; he was the dear father of J. Derek Lomas (Julika) of Amsterdam, NL and Patricia Lee Harris (Brian) of Missoula, MT; he was the dear grandfather of Milo, Mia and Maxwell Lomas and LunaMae Harris; the dear brother of Bill Lomas (Gwen) of Weston, CT and the dear stepson of Anita Lomas of New Castle, NH.

The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, Cancer Research Innovation Fund CWRU, 2106 Cornell Rd., Cleveland, OH 44106.

A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 27 th at 11 AM in St. Christopher by-the-River Episcopal Church, 7601 Old Mill Rd., Gates Mills, OH 44040.
