Richard Geier of Lyndhurst, Ohio, died Thursday, July 28, two days shy of his 85th birthday. He was the retired founder of Security Planning Inc.; longtime agent for Northwestern Mutual Life and the past president of the Cleveland Society of Financial Service Professionals and the Cleveland Association of Life Underwriters.
A dedicated volunteer for Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in South Euclid, he was a proud alumnus of University School, Georgetown University and Fairfield University.
He was the devoted father of Robert of East Lansing, MI, and Thomas of New York City (and Thom’s partner, Dennis Popeo).
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie (née Goetz); his parents, Philip and Jane; and five brothers, Philip Jr., James, Peter, Michael and Timothy.
Friends may call from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, at Brown-Forward, 17022 Chagrin Blvd. Shaker Heights, OH.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills, OH, followed by interment at Knollwood Cemetery.
