Patricia Ann Watt Nagel, born August 5th, 1936 to Katherine Anderson and William Watt in Albuquerque, New Mexico, died peacefully on March 7, 2026. She is survived by two children, Christopher Nagel (64) and Kellie Bean (62), and four grandchildren, Jordan Bean (36), Christopher Bean (33), Nicholas LaPointe (33) and Rachel LaPointe (28). They will miss her sweetness and affection very much.
Patricia (Patty) was a witty, fierce, stubborn, erudite force of her own making. Having lived all over the American Southwest for the early years of her life, at 16 years old and on her own she traveled from Iowa to Indiana, with only the clothes on her back, a one-way bus ticket, and a cigar box of belongings, hoping to join her sister and mother in Ft. Wayne. Forced to help support the family she found, Patty began working full-time at Lincoln Life Insurance Company. She seemed to thrive in this new environment, told lots of happy stories about that time, and made many, many friends there that lasted over 60 years. Patty married in 1956, and in 1968 moved with her husband and children to Columbus, Ohio where she lived for the next fifty years of her life.
In Columbus, Mom learned to love hosting parties, taught herself to bake, and became the mistress of the whoopie pie. Patty was a life-long avid reader. Deeply, broadly well-read, she was a keen conversationalist and a joy to talk to. Her wit was wicked fast and she was hilarious.
She will be remembered for staging extravagant Christmases, watching her most-loved movies endlessly, her clumsy embrace of Facebook posting, and loving us all very much.
The family will hold a private memorial.
