Michael Gathercole

Michael Charles Gathercole, OBE, January 17, 1939 - April 9, 2015. Beloved husband of Gayle Gathercole; loving father of Fiona Gathercole and Colina Greenway (Guy); dear grandfather of Cicely, Barclay and Montague.
Former British Consul to Cleveland. He served in the British Diplomatic Service from 1962 to 1999, serving in Trinidad, Nigeria, Kenya, Finland, Saudi Arabia, Cleveland, India and New York. His great interests were: ringing church bells, fishing, hunting, sailing and the great outdoors in general. He was an avid fan of Rugby Union and Formula One motor racing. Key planner in the creation of Fairhill Partners' innovative Kinship House, providing safe, affordable, attractive residences for kinship families -- grandparents raising grandchildren. Michael's humour, intelligence, charm, manners, great stories and sense of fair play will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a wonderful charity in Michael's favourite country, Kenya: the Cottars Wildlife Conservation Trust, supporting conservation and community initiatives in the Maasai Mara, Kenya to benefit the Maasai tribespeople. Cheques can be made payable to the Trust in care of Brown-Forward, 17022 Chagrin Blvd, Shaker Hts., OH 44120.
A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 3445 Warrensville Ctr. Rd., Shaker Hts., OH 44122 on Saturday, April 18 at 2 PM.
