Martin Britt Block

A proud Marine and devoted public servant, Marty enlisted in the United States Marine Corps directly after high school. He was among the brave U.S. service members stationed in Lebanon during the 1983 Beirut Barracks Bombing. Marty survived the bombing and carried with him the memory of fallen comrades for the rest of his life—a quiet testament to his strength, resilience, and deep sense of duty.

Marty dedicated more than 30 years to protecting his community as a police officer in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Known for his courage and compassion, he earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of the people he served.

Marty is survived by his children: Hannah Block, Matthew Block (Kami Sutterluety), the Mother of his children and and end of life caretaker, Joanne Evans; his Fiance, Jennifer Roll; his grandchildren, Lorelei and Wyatt Block; his mother, Mary Esther Block (Harold Block); his sister, Sarah Fox and nephew, Peter Fox. His legacy of love, service, and strength lives on in them.

Those who wish may make contributions in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
