Lorinda (Rindy) Nash Collister was born on December 5, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio and peacefully passed at the age of 83 on November 3, 2023. Rindy grew up in Gates Mills and was the devoted daughter of John Franklin Nash (deceased) and Barbara Bruch Nash (deceased) and the loving sister of John Franklin Nash, Jr. (deceased). Rindy shared 52 joyful years in Gates Mills with her beloved husband, Daniel Russell Collister. She is survived by her four children, Lucy Nash Lytle, Becky Lytle Everett (Chandler), John Reading Lytle (Lee), and David Franklin Lytle, and two step-children, Laurie Collister and Peter Collister (Rebecca). Rindy was the adored grandmother of seven: Katie Everett (Jacob Hailperin-Lausch), Andrew Everett, Jake Lytle, Tucker Lytle, Tori Lytle, Georgie Collister, and Lizzie Collister.
Rindy graduated from Hathaway Brown School in 1958 and from Skidmore College in 1962. She was a past president of The Gates Mills Garden Club, a founding board member of The Gates Mills Land Conservancy, and a former board member of the Central School of Practical Nursing. With her husband, Dan, she actively participated in many community theater productions of The Gates Mills Players, where they formed several lifelong friendships.
On Saturday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m., a Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Christopher by-the-River Episcopal Church, 7601 Old Mill Road in Gates Mills, with a short reception to follow at the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club across the street.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Rindy’s memory to The Gates Mills Players, 1460 Chagrin River Road, Gates Mills, Ohio 44040. Please write “Rindy Collister” on the memo line of the check.
