Lisa Caroline DeMarco Calamita

Lisa Caroline DeMarco Calamita passed away Sept. 11, 2023. She was born November 29, 1969 in John Andrews Hospital in Tuskegee Institute, famous for its history. Lisa moved to Shaker Heights in 1972 where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1988 and earned a fine arts degree from Bowling Green University in 1992. She was the beloved mother of Isabella Sweet Calamita and Joseph Brian Calamita. Her children were treasured and much loved in her life. She took pleasure in their accomplishments and hoped to see them graduate college and live rewarding lives. In addition to her children, she also adored her two dogs Porter and Jax. Her cherished parents are Bonnie Sweet DeMarco and Joseph P. DeMarco.  Her dearly loved brother, William John DeMarco passed in 2021. Lisa was devastated by his early death. William's wife, Liz, continues to be a valuable part of our family

Although a gifted artist, Lisa was very proud of the achievements of her students. She taught many years at the Cleveland School of Arts. Her students are among the best in the Cleveland area, winning awards and going on with full scholarships at prestigious universities. The relationships Lisa built with her students created bonds that lasted throughout the years.

It is difficult to describe the wonderful person she was. Her personality was as beautiful as her physical appearance. Just meeting her was memorable.

She has many beloved friends from childhood and beyond who have always supported her. They wonderfully continue to support her memory and her children.

A celebration of Lisa's life will be held privately at 11am on Monday, September 18, 2023.  People may view this service virtually by logging onto this obituary webpage at the date and time of the service, or thereafter.
