Lillian Titmas

May 2, 1928 — February 1, 2018

Lillian Titmas was born in Paterson, NJ, May 2, 1928.

She grew up in NJ, went to East Side High School in Paterson, lived in Fairlawn and Bloomingdale, NJ. Lillian put herself through college at William Paterson College and Rockland Community College later in life, once being turned down by a bank because she didn't have her husband's permission. She still finished her degree. She retired to Crystal River, FL and lived in both San Antonio, TX and Shaker Heights, OH.

She spent most of her life as a teacher at Upper Greenwood Lake Elementary School in West Milford, NJ. She also was a registered nurse and worked in both hospitals and later in home health care in her retirement. She beat two cancers and survived two husbands and a long time significant other.

Lillian believed in the good in everyone and she gave freely of her heart and her resources. She was a mother, a wife, a grandmother, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a great grandmother, a teacher, a nurse and a ray of sunshine to so many people. She had an infuriating, at times, pollyanna view of everything. But it got her through so much.

Lillian loved animals. We hope she has been reunited with all of her beloved pets, numbering more than a dozen. She also loved reading and was, of course, a fan of Danielle Steele. She loved puzzle books and she loved dancing. She absolutely loved the water. She adored her great grandchildren.

She was one of the kindest people in the world. Every holiday, she spent hours and hours writing out cards to send to the dozens of people in her address book.

She is survived by her oldest son, Steve Titmas, his wife Lin Costagli. Son Scott Titmas and grand daughter Abigail Titmas. Granddaughter Michelle Millet, grandson in law Darrell Long, great granddaughter Grace Millet, great grandson Joseph Millet. Granddaughter Theresa Marion, great grandson Kyle Ritchey, great granddaughter Cailin Ritchey.

She survived her daughter, Susanne Ellen Titmas, her granddaughter Lauren Weller.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to the Cleveland Animal Protection League because pretty much more than anything, Lillian loved dogs. Alternatively, donate to a Democratic political campaign near you because she was a strong liberal and could not bear to live in the Trump era.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13th at 1 PM in Brown-Forward, 17022 Chagrin Blvd., Shaker Hts., OH, 44120.

Entombment will be Friday, February 16th at 12 noon in The Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa Springs, Florida.
