Laura M. Fox

Laura Fox passed away in Cleveland, Ohio on July 15, 2019 surrounded by family at age 64. The youngest of three sisters, she was born to Margaret and Hugh McLane November 28, 1955 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She attended elementary and junior high schools in Fond du Lac and enjoyed her childhood summers swimming and water-skiing at Lake de Neveu. She learned to play the piano and cello and was admitted to Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. Her last two years of high school she attended Kingswood School-Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she graduated in in 1973.
After high school Laura attended Wesleyan University and was a member of Eclectic House where she made many dear life-long friends. After graduating from Wesleyan University in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology she enrolled in the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve, where she earned a BSN degree in 1980. In 1988 she earned her master’s degree in Nursing Administration and Gerontologic Nursing, and in 2002 completed the Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program at Case Western Reserve University. For over 35 years Laura practiced nursing at Cleveland area medical facilities, including Margaret Wagner House and University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center.
In 1982, Laura married Cleveland native and Oberlin College graduate, Jeffrey Fox. They shared a love for nature, hiking and camping and raised two daughters together. Laura was a devoted mother and Girl Scout Leader and passed on her love for nature and the outdoors to her children. The Fox family regularly attended the Cleveland Orchestra and local theater groups and Playhouse Square performances. Laura also enjoyed gardening and was an avid collector of garden gnomes. Laura loved traveling with both family and friends, going on many American road trips with Jeff and the girls, as well as more exotic trips with family and friends, like India, Africa and Russia.
Laura will be remembered for her love of family, her caring generosity, her devoted friendship, her warmth and sense of humor. She is predeceased by her husband, Jeffrey, and both her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret and Rebecca Fox, and her sisters, Annie Strupp of Salt Lake City, UT and Kathryn McLane of San Diego, CA.
