Joseph Berg

October 4, 1924 — July 4, 2009

A pioneer in early radio and television in Cleveland, Joe Berg passed away at the age of 84. Starting out with the late Bud Wendell on Breakfast in Bedlam on WJMO, Joe then moved to Channel 5 WEWS and produced and acted in Mister Lollipop, By Jupiter and other children's shows. At Western Reserve University, Joe was active in theatre before moving on to a career in insurance. During WWII, he was in Special Services, helping to entertain the troops and seeing action in India.Performing was his love and for some time he was a babysitter after retirement. He was the father of Amy Robinson Jim of Delray Beach, FL and Richard Berg Rorie of Shaker Hts, OH; brother of Marvin Berg Elaine of Moreland Hills, OH. The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in his name to the Lupus Foundation of America Greater Cleveland Chapter, 12930 Chippewa Road, Cleveland, OH 44141 or to the Foundation for Parkinson's Disease Research, Church Street Station P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780. Memorial Services will be held at Brown-Forward, 17022 Chagrin Blvd, Shaker Hts., OH on Friday, July 10 at 1:00pm. Interment Rittman, OH.
