James Weiss

JAMES M. WEISS, Jr., age 93, of Cleveland, OH, born in Utica, NY, died peacefully in his room, February 4th, 2009 at the Judson Retirement Community of Cleveland, OH. Mr. Weiss attended Union College in Schnectady, NY, then worked for the Savage Arms Co. of Utica, NY, before serveing in the US Army Air Corps in Great Britain during WWII. He went on to work for The New York Sun newspaper, the New York Journal American newspaper and eventually retired from the NEA, a Scripts Howard company. He was a former member of the Cleveland Skating Club of Shaker Heights, OH. Mr. Weiss was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Weiss nee McDermott. He was the son of the late James M. and Anne Ritzel Weiss; dear uncle of F.J. Hanus, III, Mary McDermott, Norma Ward, Lawrence Ruth McDermott, Susan Cooper, John Renee McDermott, Jane McDermott and the late Michael McDermott. He was also survived by many loving great-nieces, nephews and cousins. The family suggests that those who wish may make contributions in his name to University Hospitals of Cleveland, 11100 Euclid Ave., 44106 or The Annual Fund of Judson Retirement Community, 2181 Ambleside Dr., Cleveland, OH 44106. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, April 27th at 12:30pm in St. Ann Catholic Church, 2175 Coventry Rd., Cleveland Hts., OH BROWN-FORWARD SERVICE 216-752-1200
