Jamahl Croone was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 24, 1972 to William and Golden Croone. He was the third of four children and was preceded in death by his beloved father, William Croone.
Jamahl was a special-needs individual, who was surrounded by his loving family. He approached life with pure joy and a genuine warmth. He had an infectious smile and an enormous enthusiasm for life and family. Jamahl would proudly introduce his family to his staff and medical team, often saying, “This is my sister, Shea…” or “This is my mother…” However, nothing compared to the way his eyes lit up when he saw his favorite sibling, Arian, so much so that he would barely acknowledge anyone else during visits to his group home. He always made a point to let us know he was praying for us, a reflection of his caring spirit.
Jamahl attended St. John A.M.E. Church and later, United Methodist Church with his father, William. Jamahl participated in a training and support program at Southwest Adult Activity Center in Cleveland and proudly earned several medals through the Special Olympics program. Jamahl was an avid sports fan and admired basketball greats Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Scottie Pippen. Music brought him immense joy, and he was known to break out his own signature dance moves, especially when listening to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” He also enjoyed playing with his Hot Wheels car collection and never tired of watching reruns of Rocky.
Above all, Jamahl had a remarkable way of making others feel better. His smile could brighten a room and his joyful giggle will echo in our hearts. He brought happiness simply by being himself.
Jamahl leaves behind his mother, Golden Croone; his siblings, Churyl Croone, Arian Croone, and Shea Croone; his nephew, Jay Croone; the family of the late Ovela Coe, the family of Curtis Griggs, the family of Mumtez Davis, and the family of Francis Hawkins.
We will always miss you!
