H. Allan Newman

Harry Allan Newman, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 24 with his family by his side. The loving husband of the late Helen B. Newman (nee Brainerd), dear father of Kathleen B. Burger(Joe), of Russell Twp, OH; James A. Newman(Carolyn) and Jennifer B. Barrett(Greg), both of Moreland Hills, OH; dear grandfather of Brittany, Kristin Russo(Michael), Bennet(Nikki), Sam, Tom,Erin Olson(Ethan), Kaylee,and Meeghan; dear great grandfather of Melina Russo and Alice Newman.

Al was born  born in Lorain, Ohio on May 16, 1932.He was the only child of O.M. and Mary Newman. Al attended Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a Sigma Phi Epsilon and met his wife Helen Brainerd. Al served 2 years in the Army, during the Korean War.

Al and Helen were married in 1954 and lived in Columbus, OH.  They moved to Cleveland Heights,  OH in 1961, where they raised their children, Katie, Jim and Jenny. Al worked for the H. W. Madison Co. and spent most of his career with Calfee, Halter until his retirement.

He enjoyed curling and golf and was a long time member of the Hermit Club where he played in the orchestra and sang in the chorus.  Al was also a member of Canterbury Golf Club and the Mayfield Curling Club.

There was a private burial on Thursday, May 28.

Friends are welcome to a Celebration of Life on Saturday June 15th from 3 pm - 4:30 pm at South Franklin Circle in the Community Center, 25 16575 South Franklin Street, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
