Frances M. Namkoong

Frances M. Namkoong, a cherished member of her community and a beloved mother, passed away on September 23, 2025, at Arden Court of Chagrin Falls. Born on June 1, 1927, she was raised in Manhattan, NY.  Frances led a vibrant life dedicated not only to her family but also to her career as a librarian and her unwavering commitment to civil rights advocacy.

As the beloved wife of the late David Namkoong, Frances was a loving mother to her children: Stephen Namkoong of Lakewood, OH, and Diana and Kevin Namkoong of Highland Heights. Her family was her pride and joy, and she always found ways to connect with each of them through laughter, kindness, and a shared love of the simple pleasures in life.

Frances was known for her vivacious personality, filled with a great sense of humor and wit. She had a generous spirit, always looking out for the "little guy," and she possessed an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her warmth and charm made her a friend to many, and she will be fondly remembered for these qualities.

In her personal life, Frances embraced a variety of interests that brought her happiness. A lover of music, dancing, and singing, she was often found enjoying the arts in her community. An avid reader of mystery novels and a devoted fan of movies, Frances was also a regular attendee at the Cleveland Film Festival, eagerly supporting the local film scene. Her passion for Cleveland sports teams further showcased her deep-rooted connection to her community.

Frances's contributions to her community extended beyond her personal life; she was a civil rights advocate whose efforts made a difference in the lives of many. She was proud of her work and the positive impact it had on the world around her.

A visitation to honor Frances will be held on September 29, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Brown-Forward located at 17022 Chagrin Boulevard, Shaker Heights, OH. Following this, a funeral service will take place on September 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Plymouth Church, situated at 2860 Coventry Road, Shaker Heights, OH.

Frances M. Namkoong’s entire life exemplified a commitment to joy, kindness, and community. She will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
