Else Marie Klein

Else Marie Klein, 95, of Cleveland Heights OH, died peacefully at her home on May 21st after a short period of decline. She was predeceased by her former husband Dr. LeRoy Klein, her younger sister Astrid and brother-in-law Svein and her cousin Ruth. She is survived by her children: Norman, Nina and George, nephews: Asbjorn, and Per. and nieces: Linn, Corrine and Linda. 

Else was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Norwegian parents: Norman and Kaia Hagberg. Her family returned to Norway when Else was 3 years old. She was raised and educated in Kristiansand. After graduating from junior college, she traveled to work as an au pair in Cambridge England for several years and then to Harvard Medical School, where she met her husband, LeRoy. 

Else was a talented potter, who studied pottery at Karamu and participated in art sales and May shows. She loved to combine her pottery with gardening to create whimsical gardens. She traveled extensively, visiting Machu Picchu, the Great Wall of China, the pyramids of Egypt, Israel, and throughout Europe. 

Else was an open and friendly person, who made friends everywhere she went. She will be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her. Her remains will return to Kristiansand, Norway, where they will reside amongst her relatives. A private memorial gathering will be held.
