Dudley Sheffler

August 29, 1944 — February 10, 2010

Dudley P. Sheffler the son of James F. & Cletus Eckel Sheffler was born the 29th day of September, 1944. He passed away on February 10th, 2010 in his winter residence in Key West, Florida. A longtime resident of Hunting Valley, Ohio, Dudley was married to Barbara Keil Sheffler for 44 years. Together, they had three children - Henry Wick and wife Theresa Richmond, VA, Jamie and wife Nina Shaker Heights, John and wife Candace Shaker Heights and six grandchildren -Margaret, Madeline, Matthew, Christian, Brooke, and Austin. Dudley is also survived by three brothers James, Thomas and Ronald and one sister, Laura. Dudley received his college education at the University of Kentucky in 1966, earning a BS degree. He then received his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1968. In his professional life, Dudley had been Chairman of the Board of Bluffton Motor Works and was on the Board of Directors at TransDigm Group Incorporated from 2007 up to his death. He was on the Advisory Board of Blue Point Capital private equity fund and on the Board of Directors of several privately held portfolio companies of Blue Point Capital and CapitalWorks. He was a retired in 2000 President of North American Operations for Marconi Communications. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of Reltec Corporation which was later sold to Marconi in 1999. He was Former Vice President/Business Group President of telecommunications business of Rockwell International and President of telecommunication equipment segment of Reliance Electric Corporation. In his service to the community, Dudley served on the Board of Gilmour Academy and Urban Community School. He was also a supporter of many non-profit organizations. Dudley was devoted to spending time with his family. His other interests included traveling, land preservation, gardening, boating, church and community service. He was a member of both the Mayfield Sand Ridge Country Club and the Key West Yacht Club. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 18th at 11am in The Church of The Resurrection, 32001 Cannon Rd., Solon, Ohio.
