Obituary

Claud Robison died at University Hospitals on July 21, 2026.

He was born on February 26,1954 and raised in Springville, Alabama, a Birmingham suburb. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1976 and earned a Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies at Syracuse University in 1977.

Claud began his career at the Cuyahoga County Public Library's (CCPL) Mayfield Regional Library and retired from the Chagrin Falls branch in 2009 after almost thirty years at CCPL. He was an astute reference librarian and a voracious reader who developed a following among library patrons who attended his monthly book discussions. He was instrumental in training staff throughout CCPL when the library automated operations.Claud thrived on books and reading, classical music, listening to NPR, the daily " New York Times" crossword puzzle, and "The New Yorker." He was a subscriber to The Cleveland Orchestra and particularly enjoyed the Orchestra's Chorus.

He is survived by his long-time former partner, Louis V. Adrean, his beloved cat, Molly, two nieces, Jenny Noland Loughridge, Susan Noland (Joey) Downey, five great nieces and nephews, and five great-great nieces and nephews. His friends and neighbors (Jeff and Antje Bogart, Charla Coatoam, Holly and Ron Kautzman, Claire Kohler, Helen Liggett, Kim and Mario Mastrandrea, and Deborah Tenenbaum) were a source of comfort during his brief illness. Claud was predeceased by his parents, Claud and Opal (Longshore) Robison and a sister and brother-in-law, Dona and Thomas Noland.

Sincere gratitude is extended to Drs. Raymond Onders and Raymond Rozman as well as to the SICU nurses and other care givers at University Hospitals whose kindness, compassion, and expertise provided comfort to Claud.
