Ruth Shimandle (nee Vidovic) age 84 passed away on September 21, 2025. Devoted wife for 65 years of Donald Shimandle, loving mother of Donald Shimandle Jr., Lisa Curtis (Igor) and late David Shimandle. beloved daughter of the late Peter and Barbara Vidovic, cherished sister of Patricia Kuta, Barbara Warshaw (Michael) and Peter Vidovic (Wendy), aunt of Gregory (Lisa), Peter, Christopher, Candice (Matt), Mary and Krista (Joe), great aunt of Elijah, Madeline, Greenlee, Brynn, Carter and Evelyn, all of whom she loved dearly, adored grandmother of Tanqueray & Baccarat, bonus mother to Geneen, Sherri, and Christy
To know Ruthie was to love Ruthie. She consistently put others before herself, always thinking about how her actions would affect the people around her. Her kindness, generosity, and empathy were boundless. Her life was a testament to the compassion and grace that Jesus taught, a living sermon for all who knew her. Her ability to forgive was unparalleled, and her family and friends were her world. She excelled at old-school cooking and entertaining, always the most caring and generous host. Never did one leave her house hungry, thirsty or in need of anything. Her sense of humor was so quick you could almost miss it, delivered with the slightest curve of her lip and a twinkle in her eye. She was a friend to all animals and a devout Catholic. She lived her life with grace, dignity, compassion, and a steadfast yet silent inner strength. Throughout her life, she always offered unwavering support, comfort, and encouragement for anyone in need. She will be forever loved, missed and cherished. It was an honor and a privilege to call her wife, mom, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin or friend.
“She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain”
She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain,
She’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take.
She sings a song of hope and cheer,
There’s no more pain, no more fear.
You’ll see her in the clouds above,
Hear her whisper words of love.
You’ll be together before long,
Until then, listen for her song.
