Candace J. "Candy" Lum, age 76 of Chagrin Falls, OH. Beloved wife of the late Harry W. Lum; loving mother of Chip Lum of Chagrin Falls, Megan Lum Mehalko of Cleveland, David Lum (Julie) of Shaker Hts., sister of Bonnie Cindrich (Bob) of Pittsburgh, Jackie Alestri (Phil) of Hudson, and Debbie Thacker (Bob); dear Grandy to Taylor and Kristen Mehalko, Warren and Garrett Lum, and Madison Lum, cherished Aunt and friend to many.
Candy grew up in Chagrin Falls, the daughter of Muriel B. and H. Allyn Jones. She loved the Chagrin Falls community for her whole life. She met Harry when they were camp counselors at Red Raider Camp- he was a bus driver! She went into real estate, starting work at Taylor Sutliff in Shaker Square. She then moved to various real estate office management positions in Chagrin Falls and in Pepper Pike, before buying Hackett & Arnold Realtors. She was a leader in many real estate professional organizations, including CABOR. Candy loved her real estate friends and colleagues and her real estate accomplishments were a highlight in her life. She and Harry traveled around the world, enjoyed collecting antiques, and their many dogs. Candy was a style maven, always perfectly put together, looking beautiful. She read voraciously and was a great cook and hostess. She enjoyed volunteering at The Gathering Place and believed in its mission.
She loved spending time with her sisters, Bonnie and Jackie, and their families. She was a wonderful grandmother, and she refused to be called anything but “Grandy.” She was fun and sometimes mischievous, especially when playing with the kids!
Candy was the center of the family and the source of many family traditions that will fondly be carried on. Her presence will be missed.
The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to The Gathering Place, 23300 Commerce Park, Beachwood, OH 44122. Services are private. Entombment, Knollwood Mausoleum.
