Beverly J. "Camel" Chalabian

Beverly J. “Camel” Chalabian (nee Melaragno), age 84 of Shaker Hts., OH.

She was the wife of the late Jack J. Chalabian.  A loving mother of Cindy Chalabian (Tony Norton) of Cleveland, OH, Rebecca Botchway of Shaker Hts., Jack Chalabian, II (Ranjana) of Chicago, IL and Jennifer Chalabian of Shaker Heights.  She was loving a grandmother to Jack “Tres” Chalabian, III  of New York, NY, Jessica Harting (Michael) of St. Marys, OH and Dallas Botchway of Denver, CO.  She was also the great-grandmother of Jocelyn and Josephina Harting.

Over the years Bev had been an intrical part of many organizations. While her children were in school she was active with the PTA, serving many years as President. She was a proud Girl Scout for over 50 years. She starting as a child, and she completed the highest level in scouting while in  school.  When her daughters were old enough to join, she became a leader and was loving known as "Camel".  Once her girls graduated high school she joined the Lake Erie Girl Scout Council as a trainer, teaching a countless number of women to become leaders. As a result of her years of service she received the highest award for leadership in scouting.

Bev had a passion for singing and for years sang with the choir at Our Lady of Peace.  When she moved to Solon she joined the Solon Senior Center and sang with their choir. She moved to Woodside Senior Living in 2018. She felt it was important to make some changes for the residents and joined the Resident Council. Because of her intuition and insightfulness, she was voted  unanimously as President of the council for multiple years. Bev also started a number of activities at Woodside, including a choir.

Bev liked to read and garden. During the warmer months you would find her in the newly spruced up courtyard, which she initiated, reading a book or tending to the gardens.

Bev was quite witty and known for her prose. She could be given a subject and in just a few minutes could come up with a rhyme, whether it be funny, heartfelt, endearing, or earnest.

Bev touched the lives of so many people; she will be missed dearly!

The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to The Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, 1 Girl Scout Way, Macedonia, OH 44056.
