Tribute to Dad with love from Leslie

Dad had a big life. Like so many, the Great Depression, WWII were major events that forged him into a man with (at the VERY least) character and fortitude.  The Army Air Corps, Kent State, his own band, marriage to Mom, kids, racing , Master Builders work and travel,  then grandchildren made up the fabric and joy of his life.

Dad’s life was filled with hard work , humor,  adventure, fun, family and so many blessings.  For me, his greatest legacies were his love for our families and especially his grandchildren,  his integrity, his sense of humor,  his love of animals, his perseverance,  his incredible stories, his love of  America,  and most important his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

I have many touching and humorous memories.  These are a few that I would like to share.  Dad, thank you for each one… also for your love, and working so hard to take care and provide for us.

Expressions

“Sleepy tight”

“What a world!” …Dad especially marveled at cell phones

“Don’t buy any green bananas”…on aging

“See you at the races”…

“Of course I want cream and sugar….what other reason is there to drink coffee”…just 2 weeks ago

“This is the best birthday I’ve had since last year” …on his 99th birthday with a big smile and strawberry cake

“Stay Smoochie” at the end of our daily calls.

Dad, you said so often “ What a world!”   About you I say,  “What a life!”

And it is just beginning.

I love you Dad, and will think of you and Mom together every day.

Sleepy tight.  Stay Smoochie…until we see each other again.
