Anne A. Coan (nee Allen), age 95 of Shaker Hts., OH.Anne was born and grew up in Bay Village, OH., as an only child. She was co-valedictorian of her high school class and received a BA in English from Flora Stone Mather of CWRU.  This is where she met Robert Coan "Bob" in her senior year, on a blind date, after he had just returned from his service in WWII. They raised their 4 children in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Upon Bob's untimely death at the age of 54, Anne went back to work and started traveling the world, visiting 26 countries. After retiring from the Cleveland Museum of Art, she volunteered in the offices of Hospice of VNA, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Free Clinic.

Anne Allen Coan was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Coan; loving mother of Cathleen "Cathy" Leimkuehler (Mark) of Tampa, FL, Brian J. Coan (Michaela) of Redwood City, CA, Eileen M. Coan of Cleveland Hts., OH and the late J. Kenneth Coan; dear grandmother of Kira, Shannon and Liam Coan, Teresa Arrighi (Brian) and Greg Leimkuehler (Lauren); great-grandmother of Ryan and Hannah Leimkuehler, Ava and Ashton Arrighi.  The family prefers that those who wish may make contributions in her name to The Gathering Place, where her daughter Eileen is the librarian:  23300 Commerce Park, Beachwood, OH 44122, or to The Church of St. Dominic, 19000 Van Aken Blvd., Shaker Hts., OH 44122, where a private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17 at 10am.  Friends may view the service virtually by clicking the link below on this webpage.
