Anna Lois Zverina

(Anna) Lois Shumaker Zverina, beloved sister, wife, mother and grandmother, died on Friday, April 19 at the age of 97.

Lois grew up in Painesville, Ohio, one of five sisters.

She carried what she learned about gardening from her father and baking from her mother all through her life.  After college she taught elementary school in Independence, Ohio before marrying Robert M. Zverina in 1947 and thereafter dedicating her time to raising her children in Shaker Heights and  to a variety of philanthropic and volunteer activities.

Lois not only spent time gardening and baking but she became a talented quilter, filling her home and those of her children with her handmade quilts.

Lois was a lifetime caregiver for her husband and his siblings who pre-deceased her.  Her oldest daughter Ann died of cancer in 1989 and her second daughter Frances died in 2018.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy, son Robert, his wife Kathy, grandchildren Jacob and Annie and son-in-law Steve Bailey.

It is with great love that we mourn her passing.
