Sharon Gregor

August 5, 1941 — April 14, 2017

Sharon Ellen Gregor was born in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of Edward M. and Vera M. Lapka (Gintz). After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a degree in education, Sharon taught school in Dearborn Heights, MI, Virginia Beach, VA, and Lyndhurst, Ohio. She also held a Masters degree in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University.

As a dedicated community historian, Sharon coordinated the effort to place 81 Rockefeller Homes on the National Trust for Historic Preservation and was a founder of the Forest Hill Historic Preservation Society. She also chaired the City of East Cleveland's historic preservation board and she was the co-founder of the East Cleveland Crime Protection program. In addition, Sharon authored a book on John D. Rockefeller and another on the Forest Hill neighborhood. She was also a charter member of the Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, Inc. (DFAW) and a lifelong member of the Herb Society of America as well as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Sharon is survived by her son John B. Gregor of New York City and her sister Claudia (Robert) Leonard and nephew Brent Leonard.

Funeral Services will be held at Brown-Forward, 17022 Chagrin Blvd., Shaker Hts., OH 44120 on Wednesday, April 19 at 1 PM.
