Margaret Patch

October 7, 1937 ~ August 4, 2016 (age 78)
Patch, Margaret, 78, died August 4th, 2016, at home in Shaker Heights. She was
born October 7, 1937, in Florence, South Carolina.

She graduated from Laurel School in 1955, and in 1960 with a degree in literature from Oberlin College. She was a researcher at the United Nations Secretariat in New York City in the early
1960s, and then returned to Cleveland to join the Cleveland Press staff as a general
assignment reporter.

During the summer of 1973 she served as one of the first female assistant park rangers in the Smoky Mountains National Park. She later did some free-lance reporting for the Chagrin Valley Herald Sun.

She was active with the Sierra Club, The Wilderness Society, The World Wildlife Fund and People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Katharine Patch. In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service was held at Lake View Cemetery.
