Elizabeth Hart Akers

December 24, 1925 ~ May 13, 2017 (age 91)
Elizabeth "Bee" Akers, beloved wife to Bob Akers, mother to Beth, Jeannette (David D'Alessandro) and Scott (Erica Dun) and grandmother to Robert D'Alessandro passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on May 13, 2017. Sister Dorothy Hart predeceased her. Born in Cleveland to Walter and Mabel Hart, she attended Shaker Heights High School and then Ohio Wesleyan University where she was home coming queen. She was a model and buyer for Halle Brothers and especially enjoyed her job as a librarian at Shaker Heights Public Library where she frequently read stories to children. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor that persisted to her last days. Her passion was her family. She enjoyed being a mother and a wife and cherished the family experience of living abroad. Bee orchestrated 15 moves during Bob's career. From 1972 to 1982 Bee dedicated herself to making Switzerland and England home for her family, including buying and selling houses, finding appropriate schools and helping her family become part of new communities. In London she found time to study English history and, in the words of an English friend, "knew more about English history than most Englishmen". At home she was dedicated to volunteer work and she cultivated a beautiful garden.

Bee was an active member of the Junior League; active in the In Town Club; member of the Lucky Ladies Investment Club; The Country Club bowling league; active member of Church of the Savior.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in memory of Bee to the Church of the Savior, 2537 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118, where a Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, July 22nd at 11 am.

Bee was a cherished and loved wife and mother, and she was a loyal and caring friend. As a corporate wife, she was held in high esteem by Bob's colleagues and her children's friends adored her. Bee's kindness and generous spirit touched everyone around her. She will be greatly missed on both sides of the Atlantic.
