Charles P. Kehres

July 5, 1938 ~ December 3, 2016 (age 78)
Charles (Charley) Kehres of Beachwood, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
A lifelong Clevelander, he was the son of the late Margaret Pitts and Edward Beople Kehres and brother of the late Jim Kehres (Marcia). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary, his admiring sons, Charles P. , Jr of Newport, Rhode Island and Christopher J. (Carrie Hewitt) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, his grandson, Hudson Hewitt Kehres, Charles's partner, David J. Kane, his loving nieces and nephew, Marci Schwab (Jeff), Lisa Mee (Terry) and Jim Kehres, Jr. (Missy); many other dear family and friends, and his Labrador Retrievers - Chance, Lady Di, Skye, and Stone.
Charley graduated from Lakewood High School and went on to earn an undergraduate degree from Denison University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. Alongside his brother, he operated the Century Glass Company on Cedar Avenue for 50+ years. Through the years, he was a member of the Ohio Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, active with the national chapter of DU, and participated with the Ohio Chapter of Trout Unlimited. He was an active member of Rockwell Springs Trout Club, and former member of Mayfield Country Club, University Club, and Hunting Valley Gun Club.
Charley was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed being on the waters of Lake Erie in his Lyman. He loved tinkering with things... cars, boats, woodworking, electronics, maintaining his company properties, etc. He was generous to everyone he knew, always wanting to bring a smile to their face. To quote Will Rogers, whom he admired, Charley "never met a man he didn't like."
In lieu of flowers and for those who wish, the family suggests a donation be made in his name to the Ohio Chapter of Ducks Unlimited or The Ralph Perkins II Wildlife Center & Woods Garden,
